I’m getting back into the swing of things this month… in the past 3 months, my apartment building caught on fire, my husband and I lived with my parents, then we bought a house. So that kind of left my whole website and my interest in it neglected. But I am back at it now! Since re-branding (again), I feel refreshed, organized, and ready to make stuff happen. I was rethinking some stuff and I know I want my blog to focus more on my life and how design is infused into that everyday while still offering courses, design services, and helpful tutorials.
I was looking for graphic design jobs over the last 2 months because we need to be making more of an income to pay for our mortgage but still get to do stuff we love to do (like traveling and eating), but while looking and applying for all these jobs, something in me still felt off balance. I KNOW that this business I am trying to build is what I want to do. I love it. I love to design, I love to work for myself, I love to write, I love a creative challenge, I love being able to work from anywhere I want, I love to be at home, I just love so much about this business I am growing that I just know in my heart of hearts it is what I want to pursue. So after a few months off, I am so ready to work hard at this again.
But, I needed some inspiration to feel that passion rise again. Here are some things that have inspired me these past couple of weeks.
MY OWN HOME
I’ve been having so much fun decorating my new home. It feels so great to have this cozy space! It’s such a fun adventure to set up furniture and decorations and hunt for more that I feel reflect our personal style. When everything is so nicely decorated and organized, I feel like I can be so much more productive when I am working and so much more relaxed when I’m chillin out.
My most pinned to board this month has to be my home decor board.
Ah cooking… the smells, the aesthetics, the creativity involved… cooking is an inspiring activity! I’ve been experimenting with different types of cuisines lately. I made jerk chicken and rice with random veggies and spices, then the next day made some improvised Indian food. I never have all the ingredients I need to make complicated dishes like that, so I am forced to use what I have. Always ends up being delicious still (most of the time).
Reading this article gave me some great productivity tips and motivated me to work work work.
Skillcrush did a summit several days ago and interviewed a ton of business owners, WordPress developers, designers, etc. and it was so inspiring! I have been wanting to take one of their courses for almost 2 years now. Anyone got $400 I can borrow??
What has inspired you lately? I could always use some more inspiration in my life – sometimes it feels like the only thing that keeps me working hard.
